COUNTER DEMO AGAINST BNP COUNCILLORS THIS Wednesday 17th May 6pm

COUNTER DEMO AGAINST BNP COUNCILLORS
THIS Wednesday 17th May, 6pm
Assemble outside Barking Town Hall, IG11 7LU

The gains made by the fascist BNP in the recent May 4 elections are a blow to all who value democracy and the multicultural Britain in which we live. While they dress themselves up as a respectable political party, the reality of life with the BNP is very different. When they previously held one seat in Barking, racist attacks went up by 18%. Now they’ve won 11 seats there and their total across the country has risen to 48.

The first full council meeting in Barking since the election is this Wednesday at 6pm.

We are urgently calling on all anti-racists and trade unionists to join this demonstration against the BNP. The bigger the turn out the better, we must send a clear message to the BNP that they aren’t welcome on our streets. They can and must be stopped and we hope that you will join us in doing this.

OTHER NEWS: A Barking and Dagenham Love Music Hate Racism group has been set up, working alongside the existing B&D UAF group and other local organizations, schools and colleges. As well as a major LMHR event taking place in the next few months, there will be a series of LMHR initiatives within local schools, colleges and the local music scene. Check our website for more details.

There will be a LMHR launch meeting in Barking sometime in the next couple of weeks. The date and venue are yet to be confirmed. For more info please contact Drew with regards to joining the B&D LMHR group andrew@lovemusichateracism.com and also with regards to Wednesday’s demo. We urge everyone to get involved and hope to see you all at Barking Town Hall.
