THE PADDINGTONS

We are from Hull and 200 years ago William Wilberforce, the Hull MP, started a campaign to end the slave trade in Britain. He made things happen. However, even today there are 27 million people living lives that are not their own. We think that this was the worst angle on Racism – you could buy people “50 to a Pound” and treat them worse than dogs. Back then, the anti-slavery movement was the first to use poems and songs to make their point. So, the Padds are proud to come from Hull, the home of a protest movement that is still relevant today.
