This week marks the international remembrance of the horrific events and times which have become known as the Holocaust. Millions of Jews, Gypsies, Trade Unionists and homosexuals were murdered in concentration camps across Europe because of their race, beliefs and lifestyles.
The Nazis used the poor economic times to grab a foothold into power during the 1920s and 30s. As we enter this recession fascist groups such as the BNP (who deny the Holocaust) will aim to gain strong links throughout Europe by way of scapegoat-ing minorities in a similar way to which the Nazis characterised.

A happy, harmonious and fascist-free new year to all our supporters! It’s a big year in the campaign to stop the BNP and curb racism in the UK. June 4th sees European-wide elections in which the BNP hope to gain seats (meaning more money for them to organise, and more respectability for their racist poison). But we know we can stop them. We urge everyone who can to come our joint LMHR/UAF national conference on February 21st in central London to find out more about what YOU can do in your area. Details in tbe Events section. Also up in Events, news of next week’s last-ever live gig at London’s Astoria venue – a sad occasion made better by a cracking lineup and the fact the organisers have pledged proceeds to LMHR – see you there!
