
The initial lineup for this year’s national LMHR Festival was announced today.
Award winning hip-hop sensations N-Dubz, , Northern indie-dance rebels Reverend & The Makers, Two-Tone legend Jerry Dammers from The Specials, and Babyshambles’ Drew McConnell‘s indie super-group Helsinki will all play at the Love Music Hate Racism Festival at the Britannia Stadium on May 30th.
Other acts revealed today include soul singer VV Brown, and grime artist Bashy. A number of headline acts are still to be announced with big name artists in the frame for Stoke-on-Trent’s biggest ever music event.
The festival is being organised by LMHR, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Stoke City Football Club and is supported by football’s anti-racism campaign Kick it Out. The event is being staged to show unity against racism in Stoke and across the UK, and to urge people to vote against racism and fascism in June’s European Elections. Love Music Hate Racism will have a presence at a rally called for this Wednesday (29th April) to crush the nazi BNP in the capital during the upcoming European elections. The rally is called by the Unite Against Fascism campaign and the National Union of Teachers, it takes place at Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, London WC1R 4RL from 7pm. It will feature speakers from across the political spectrum and anti-racist movements from around the country. Representing LMHR will be Asian Dub Foundation and rapper Lowkey from Mongrel, as well as Martin Smith.
