COMMON LANGUAGE – BENEFIT GIG LIVE @ 229, LONDON – FEAT. ADAM FICEK, THE POISE RITE, O TITUS AND MANY MANY MORE.

The exciting new initiative Common Language “Bendra Kalba”, aims to unite musicians and fans from across Europe to crush Nazi Parties like the BNP and prevent them from gaining seats in the upcoming European Elections. The campaign kicks off in conjunction with Love Music Hate Racism on 14th May at the 229 club on London’s Great Portland St. The bill includes an exciting mixture of acts from both Britain and Eastern Europe, featuring; Adam Ficek (Roses Kings Castles / Babyshambles), The Poise Rite, O Titus! and Black Diamond Bay. Special guest: ADAM FICEK (Roses Kings Castles / Babyshambles)
Adam Steven Ficek of Polish origin, is the drummer for the London based band Babyshambles. Prior to joining Babyshambles in 2005, Ficek had recorded with the Mains Ignition, The White Sport and has also completed two jazz albums. Ficek also has his solo side project Roses, Kings, Castles, with which he has toured and released an album. As a DJ, Adam has supported the Chemical Brothers and graced the decks of London’s infamous ‚Blow Up’, ‘Happiness Stans’, and ‘Jazz Cafe’. www.roseskingscastles.com, www.myspace.com/djadamficek

THE POISE RITE
Polish born, but London rised Poise Rite create an unique atmosphere which can be described as a combination of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Placebo, Queens Of The Stone Age and Interpol. They have played Glastonbury festival and various UK venues as The Astoria (London), The Clapham Grand, Meanfiddler, Bull & Gate, Cargo, Buffalo Bar, Scala, Telegraph, Fort Regent in Jersey, as well as clubs and stadiums in their native Poland. O TITUS!
London based O Titus! have been building a reputation for their raucous rock ‘n’ roll live show across the London circuit from 2007. Formed by Slovak and British musicians, the band is famous for their energetic sets, which have earned them plaudits at many an eminent London haunt – 93 Feet East, 229, Amersham Arms, The Albany, Spice of Life as well as performance in the major Slovak rock festival in Bratislava. www.otitus.com, www.myspace.com/otitus

BLACK DIAMOND BAY
Black Diamond Bay was formed as electro folk project in the Leeds College of Music. The band which has the only one Lithuanian-roots front-woman singer Agne Motieciute is apologizing of being no more Lithuanian stuff and is is ready to provide you the only real electrofolk flesh show, as they did many times before, just check in: www.blackdiamondbay.co.uk

THE MAIN GOALS OF THE INITIATIVE
To bring together the performers from the New Europe living and creating in the UK, to celebrate their musical diversity and collaborations with British musicians, and to rise awareness against the rising tides of nationalism in the Europe and the UK. We expect British, Polish, Slovak, Lithuanian and other New Europe music lovers to join this exciting benefit event to discover up-and-coming live acts and unite against the racism in where they live.

ABOUT BENDRA KALBA
The initiative “Bendra Kalba” (“Common Language” in Lithuanian) was conceived during the visit of “Love Music Hate Racism” representatives at the musical and political seminar “Not2ndplace”, held in Kaunas, Lithuania and the following discussions about what can be done practically to curb racism. www.bendrakalba.eu
