Thousands of people across the country took part in protests yesterday (Monday) against the election to the European Parliament of the British Nazi Party’s Nick Griffin and Andrew Brons. Britain’s Nazi Party – the BNP – tonight grabbed two UK seats in the European Parliament, in the North West and in Yorkshire. This even though their absolute number of votes standing completely still in both regions from their 2004 result. In a perfect situation for the fascists – recession and mass disgust at corruption among MPs – a fantastic anti-fascist campaign stopped them increasing their support. But the disastrous collapse of mainstream parties’ votes has enabled the Nazis to win by default. Everyone who understands what the BNP are really about must make sure everybody else understands this too – and that we step up mass resistance to the fascists, who represent a small minority of our society. Both Griffin and other BNP MEP Andrew Brons are long-standing Nazis with vile fascist associations and in Griffin’s case convictions for race hate. There is a serious danger that the fascist BNP will gain seats in the European elections tomorrow if people don’t turn out and vote against them. Your vote can make the difference between the BNP winning and losing.
The time to act is now – make sure you vote against the BNP, and make sure all your friends, colleagues and family understand how important it is for them to get out and vote.
