TWO DAYS TO STOP THE BNP: JOIN UNITE AGAINST FASCISM LEAFLETTING & ACTIVITY TIL THURSDAY NIGHT

THREE DAYS LEFT TO FIGHT THE FASCIST BNP

There are just three days to go before the European elections on Thursday 4 June. Unite Against Fascism activists have handed out over two million leaflets and tabloid newspapers to people in the past few weeks, warning of the threat posed by the Nazi BNP at the elections. We had an excellent turnout on “Unity Friday” last week and went down brilliantly at the Love Music Hate Racism festival in Stoke on Saturday.

But the latest polls make sobering reading. YouGov has the BNP on 7 percent among those who say they are certain to vote. That could win them up to four Euro MP seats — North West England, Yorkshire & Humber, West Midlands and London — if turnout stays low. A slightly higher turnout, in contrast, would prevent the BNP from winning any seats at all. For more details download our briefing document: http://tinyurl.com/uaf020609

This underlines how close this election is, and how wrongheaded premature declarations of victory are. If we can get the anti-racist vote out in the next few days we can strike a blow against the Nazis. The alternative scenario is the grim prospect of four fascist MEPs representing Britain in the European parliament.

What we do over the next couple of days will make all the difference. If you want to help stop the Nazis, you should join UAF’s eve-of-poll campaigning on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. We need to get the message out far and wide: we can stop the BNP if people come out and vote against them on Thursday.

Here is a partial list of train and tube stations around the country that we have organised leafleting sessions at. If your local station is listed, come along and help out. If not, phone the UAF office on 020 7801 2782 or 07805 440 620, or email unite@ucu.org.uk
