LOVE MUSIC HATE RACSIM FESTIVAL IN NELSON, LANCASHIRE

Love Music Hate Racism event on Sunday 4th October.
It will take place at 2pm at The ACE Centre in Nelson, Lancashire and will run allday.
There will be 3 stages of diverse music featuring over 30 performances.
We have an incredibly good line-up featuring acts such as:

Brown Orange Blue (Accrington)
Main Stage
Electro/Experimental/ Pop
The Torvill and Dean of the Blackburn music scene. Brown Orange Blue are a duo who’ve played with the likes of Gallops, Hostage, 16 BIT, Two Minute Noodles, The Urchins, Heads We Dance and SAY. They are soon to be releasing their new EP, Nato and Cab on Pendle’s Ocarina Records and have collaborated with Natasha Lea Jones and members of SAY and BAYS. Two very well mannered young men.

Charlie Barnes is an English solo musician incorporating and mixing elements of piano, electronic loops and soundscapes, which together with soaring vocals create an ambient, melancholic sound comparable with the likes of Thom Yorke and Rufus Wainwright. Based in Huddersfield, England, he has thus far produced only one demo entitled ‘No Offenkk’… with which he is currently touring the UK supporting progressive/..psychedlic rock act Amplifier.

From the womb of Neon Sleep comes Gaunt Story, the new project from Rob Ashworth. Gaunt Story have recently released the brand new album,‘This Gaunt Story’ on Ocarina Records, they’ve done a live session on BBC Radio Lancs, and managed to get a song on Myspace’s new series, ‘Freak’. Featuring members of SAY, The Wire Sect and Fruitless Forest.

If you’ve never heard the name Gideon Conn, you’ve obviously been sleeping under a rock for the last few years. Having recently supported Gomez and John Cooper Clarke earlier in the year, played the Green Man Festival, and released a track on Sunday Best’s A-Z of Bestival, Gideon Conn and his band are at last beginning to receive the praise they truly deserve. Fresh from performing at London’s Week Of Peace Concert, Gideon will be performing a solo set of his own material, and reinterpreting some well known classics.

Giuliano Modarelli (Italy/Leeds)

Originally from Italy, Giuliano Modarelli is an eclectic guitarist based in Leeds. During his musical training he went through many different styles of music: from Western Classical to heavy rock… Giuliano is a guitarist of modern times. Having studied jazz at degree level he went on to develop through the Indian classical tradition studying under UK renowned sitarist Dharambir Singh. His unique style is a subtle blend of world folk, arabic, flamenco and eastern european. His breadth of knowledge and soulful improvisation make him a musician well worth listening to. He has toured nationally with the acclaimed fusion band Raga Nova and has performed at the Purcell Room, CBSo, and the BBC venue in Leeds. 2006 saw him at world music festival Music port with Samay for which he received high acclaim. Giuliano has just returned from an extensive 4 months indian national tour in collaboration with many indian classical artists such as grammy award winner Bickram Ghosh, sitar star Purbayan Chatterjee, santoor maestro Sandip Chatterjee, Soumen Sarkar, N Shankar, and many more great musicians.

Jah Mission Vibes (Darwen/Jamaica)

The group was formed in January 2008 by Claude Nteye from Burundi with Gary Ward & Jill Casson from Lancashire festival favourites Gone Beggin’. After a series of successful gigs, Nteye left to engage in new musical projects in the south coast town of Brighton.
The band are now fronted by experienced singer-..songwriter Yesika Zevulana. Born in Portland, Jamaica, Yesika developed a love of soul music whilst singing in church as a youngster. Her soulful voice and songwriting skills have seen Yesika work with Sly and Robbie, Junior Reed, Cocoa Tea, luciano and Chris Blackwell, singing background vocals for Island Records.
Alongside Yesika is former Beatroot drummer Dylan Avery and young guitarist Nick Murphy; Gary Ward & Jill Casson remain in the band on bass and keyboards.

Originally a solo project from Transelement man Jay Stansfield, the Pendle based experimental pop band, SAY have evolved and flourished over the past few years into an energetic five piece. Having previously toured Europe, founded Ocarina Records, had numerous releases on various labels, and had plays on BBC Radio 2’s Steve Lamacq show, the future looks bright for East Lancashire’s favourite ‘folktronica’ collective. The new album, ‘Multiverse’ released on Ocarina and Soviet Union Records is now avaliable worldwide. SAY have been compared to artists such as Animal Collective, The Beatles, Fleet Foxes, Cornelius and Pink Floyd.

Wrexham’s most imaginative and intricate rock band, Sinner Men have been approached by Nigel Pulsford, the lead guitarist of the now defunct post-grunge band Bush to produce their E.P. Previously known as Catskills, and Nemonix, Sinner Men play loud rock, catchy hooks and progressive wanderings featuring members of Manchester math rock giants Gallops.

Travelled with friends around the north of England through the 1980s and finally got to India in 1994. Been another 5 times since then.
