LMHR has been invited to take part in Manchester’s annual music industry conference “In The City”. We’ll be taking the opportunity to make more bands, labels, managers and other industry figures aware of the cause, and to appeal for more in the music industry to get actively involved in the campaign. In The City spokesman Gavin Cooke. – said “we are proud to have Love Music Hate Racism’s involvement with ITC 2009, it’s a cause we feel strongly about, particularly in the light of rising racism levels in Manchester and the North”.
There’ll be an LMHR show at the Moho venue on the opening night of the conference – this Sunday evening, from 7.30pm til 1am.
The lineup comprises:
Stoke’s Heart of the Sun – who played at May’s massive Stoke LMHR Festival; Manchester’s Orchid; , Leeds’ Danaudio, and London’s Goldheart Assembly.
The show is headlined by LMHR’s favourite troubadour John McClure from Reverend & The Makers. DJing will be provided by Dieter & The Gadabouts.
A week after the ugly sight of the Nazi “English Defence League” (EDL) attempting to march through the city’s Piccadilly Gardens only to be rebuffed by 3,000 anti-fascist protesters, this Love Music Hate Racism show in the city centre is another chance to send out the message that Manchester, and the North West, reject the rise of racism and fascism being peddled by hate merchants like the fascist BNP & EDL.
The gig is free entry, but donations to LMHR will be welcomed at the door. Priority will be given to those with ITC wristbands so get down early to ensure entry!
