A special Love Music Hate racism gig will feature a sizzling mix of music from rising stars and old-skool legends, coming together to oppose the BNP in Barking and Dagenham.
Political punks The King Blues headline the show – staged as part of the Broadway theatre’s ‘Spin the Election’ season – on Saturday 17 April. They will be joined by East London grime stars MC Ghetts (aka Ghetto, formerly of grime crew Nasty) and up-and-coming Newham rapper Griminal.
2-Tone legend Jerry Dammers – founder of The Specials and an LMHR stalwart – will offers an unmissable DJ set, with a mix of ska, rocksteady, dub, dancehall, dubstep and jungle. And genre-mashing pranksters Where’s Huey? end the bill with a blend of crunk, hip hop, pop, rock and more.
Barking and Dagenham LMHR say:
Come and rave against the racists and join the campaign. Email us, call 0207 801 2781 or visit us on facebook.

Spin the Election
The LMHR night is part of the Broadway’s Spin the Election season, running from 16 April to 15 May. The theatre says:
With BNP leader Nick Griffin running for MP in Barking against Margaret Hodge, the result in this part of East London will be anticipated not just by the local community but by the entire country. The Broadway, the vibrant performance venue at the heart of Barking, will be staging an unmissable festival, Spin The Election, as an artistic response to all the hype.
