Love Music Hate Racism Music is coming once again to Kenilworth with a festival on Saturday 26 June.
This year’s vibrant and exciting event is being organised by 11 Castle Sixth Form students following the success of last year’s festival. It will showcase some of the best local talent and the energy of the modern music scene to celebrate diversity and involve the whole community, and it promises to be a brilliant way to start the summer in Abbey Fields, Kenilworth.
The 17-year-old students who are organising the event (pictured, with promo poster) want to use music to celebrate diversity and different cultures and bring a community together. They want “people of all ages to unite and lead the way to a future free of prejudice”.
The organisers say:
There will be talented musicians, powerful speakers, interesting and unique stalls, and fun workshops and activities for everyone to take part in. Everyone is welcome to bring their own picnic and relax listening to the music, or choose from a selection of food from different cultures to tempt the taste buds, including Ghanaian delicacies and Halal food.
We have a variety of some of the best local bands including Kifaru, Chillbreeder, Superhands and Lace. We also plan to have an open mic section to allow talented performers to shine. They all promise to provide vibrant entertainment whilst also spreading the positive message of equality.
The day is aimed at spreading the values of equality and peace, regardless of race or colour. Music is a universal language and the event will showcase this with a sparkling selection of bands that represent the diverse and exciting society we live in.
There will be thought-provoking public speakers and everyone will be able to join in with workshop activities, such as face painting and games for children.
Details
The festival will run from 11.30am to 5.30pm – and it’s free! Abbey Fields is in the centre of Kenilworth and easily accessible from Coventry, Leamington, Birmingham and all the surrounding area.
