Artists back ‘We Are Bradford’ and say NO to the racist EDL

Artists from across a spectrum of genres have come out in support of this weekend’s We Are Bradford event against the racist English Defence Leaugue (EDL) at which LMHR will be providing the music.

The EDL is a group which has consistantly rampaged through towns and city centres over the past year stirring hatred against the asian and muslim communities. As previously reported both Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip and Aki Nawaz have supported this weekend’s unity event against them.

Join us: 12pm, Exchange Sq. Drake Street, Bradford City Centre

We Are Bradford is now also supported by:

Bradford based artist, writer and performance poet Joolz Denby says -

‘ The struggle against racism is a battle that will be won bypatience, steadfastness & by setting the example to those blinded by ignorance. Love Music Hate Racism shows everyone, not just youngpeople, that there is indeed hope for the future. By attending anti-racist events you are showing the world your support for thisvital cause.’

Kof. says:

“As a lover of music, and someone who hates racism, the LMHR movement is something that I’m proud to have been involved with for the past 6 years and it’s a cause that I know I will be supporting for the rest of my life! Music is so powerful, especially when it’s used in the right way – to uplift, educate and unite people – it’s arguably the strongest force in the world!”

Musician The Agitator has added his voice to those against the EDL:

“The English Defence League is the last thing we need in this country. Times are hard enough for everyone at the moment and we need to be trying to work things out together. The organisation is a farce and their ‘policies’ seem to go little further than causing trouble for everyone. If the people involved in the English Defence League were to take a look at the state of our country and perhaps learn a little about the religions and cultures they so violently condemn, I’m sure they would realise not only is what they are doing pointless, immature and irresponsible, it is also more of a problem for the ‘England’ they are so proud of, rather than a solution. Thank goodness then for, Love Music Hate Racism. Let us get together and through the medium we all know and love, show these hooligans we’ve had enough of their foolish behaviour. Together let us stand and say to the English Defence League…………NO!”

Where’s Huey? who have appeared at previous anti-EDL demonstrations and events said:

“Contrary to belief, fascism cares very little for the criteria of its victims, yesterday they were Jewish, today Muslim, tomorrow could seriously be you. That’s why we stand with Bradford and every Muslim & non-Muslim alike in condemning the hate filled lies and manufactured fear whipped up with an imperial frenzy to keep us divided.
United we stand to shape a better future for all.
For love”

Sushil K Dade, Future Pilot AKA Musician and Producer can’t make it to the demonstration but sent this message of support:

“There is no place in 21st Century Britain for the madness that is racism and hatred towards our fellow brothers and sisters and to wish you luck in your endeavours to rid our society of such evils.”
