A number of local artists from across Yorkshire have backed this Saturday’s We Are Bradford event which looks set to be a huge statement of unity against the racist English Defence League (EDL) who plan to demonstrate there.
Leading the pack are poet/artist Joolz Denby who gave a statement earlier this week and New Model Army’s Justin Sullivan, who will be performing on the day, he says:
‘Bradford is a city that has given me a home, as it has for so many
other people – no matter where we all come from we can all live
together here in peace & together resist outside racist agitators.’
Local band the New York Alcoholic Anxiety Attack who are all
Bradford born & bred would like to say in support of the event:‘We as a Bradford band stand strongly now & forever against the EDL
and any other racists who try to use our beautiful city as an excuse
to stir up hatred and disharmony. One Love, Bradford.’
Also backing the event are Red Sky Coven – the Bradford folk-cabaret supergroup who have toured
the UK & Europe for the last 25 years to packed houses:
‘Love Music Hate Racism is doing the right thing with its Bradford
event – by showing that everyone, artists, poets, singers, musicians
and audience members alike stand together against the vicious
hate-mongering of the EDL in a peaceful joyous way proves racist lies
will be dismissed as just that – lies. Red Sky Coven fully supports
Love Music Hate Racism.’Come and join us – We Are Bradford 12noon, Exchange Sq. off Drake Street.
