If you have an idea for an event in your town, or if you are a performer and want to make your gig a LMHR one, we can help you organise it – putting you in touch with performers, publicising your event on this website, pointing you in the right direction for venues and technical equipment.
Download the Love Music Hate Racism Organisers’ guide (right-click). It tells you everything you need to know to get your event off the ground.
Look for a venue in your local directory, or look at posters and flyers for other events. Call the venue up and ask how much (if anything) they charge. Some places may waive the charge if you explain it’s an anti-racist event.
Be on the lookout for local acts and DJs. If you are in a band yourself, hook up with other local bands to make a bigger night. Don’t forget to be realistic though – Radiohead aren’t likely to play down your local.
Pledgebank lets you say “I’ll do something if X number of people will help me do it”. You get your own web page and TXT number to help you gather support, and can print posters to promote your event.
If there are any current pledges to organise LMHR events, you should be able to find them here. If there’s nothing near you, you can fill out a pledge with the form below.
We can help promote your event and put you in touch with venues and artists in your area.
Use this form to tell us the details and we’ll add your event to the listing on our website.
Put up posters, give out leaflets. Don’t underestimate word of mouth. Tell everyone you know, email them, text them, use Facebook, Myspace, Twitter or YouTube to pass on he details and get your friends to do the same with their friends. Post on any related forums you are a member of, and contact local student unions or other organisations that may be interested.
If you did let us know. We are always looking out for MP3s and videos to add to this site. We can help promote your music.
We love to see photographs of your gigs. They best way to get them to us is to load them onto flickr.com and tag them up as ‘lovemusichateracism’ . They will then appear on this site. Alternatively you can email them to us.
If your event is listed on the events page drop us a line in the comments box. If not, email us with your review and we’ll add it to our features section.
Tell us where the good venues are in your town, let us know the details of any supporters you signed up – anything that might be useful to other people putting on Love Music hate Racism gigs near you.
